Consider All The Angles

How Objective Decision-Making Leads To Success

As entrepreneurs, we face the challenge of making decisions every single day. The real difficulty lies in ensuring that the decisions we make are the right ones. Often, individuals tend to make decisions based solely on their own perspective, which can be limiting. When we adopt a personal mindset, we tend to focus on the benefits to ourselves, rather than taking a broader view. However, when we step outside our own viewpoint and approach a decision from a different angle, we gain the ability to make more objective choices.

decision makingObjectivity – A Key to Effective Decision Making

When we can examine a situation objectively, as if advising someone else, our thought process shifts. We distance ourselves from the decision and think, “This is not about me, but about someone else. What advice would I give them based on my own experiences?” The idea of being “too close to the situation to make the right decision” is an everyday reality. However, by adopting a third-person perspective, decisions become easier to make. Objectivity allows for a balanced, unbiased approach that logically benefits both us and the other person(s). This should be the focus when making important decisions.

Embrace a Broader Range of Experiences

Just as children often make poor decisions due to their lack of relevant experience, adults should not rely solely on their own experiences when making choices. It is essential to integrate other people’s experiences into our decision-making process. If we base everything on just our own experiences, we become no more than Pavlov’s dogs, conditioned to react in certain ways to certain stimuli. This restricts our ability to innovate and learn. By learning from the mistakes of others, as shared through books, audios, movies, and various media, we broaden our experiences and develop better decision-making skills.

The Importance of Conscious Awareness

Living a conscious life involves being fully aware of what is happening in various areas of our lives. It requires active participation rather than mere observation. Often, we experience different things without fully comprehending or acknowledging their significance in the moment.

To develop conscious awareness, try a small exercise during dinner with your loved ones. Pay close attention to everyone present—family, friends, or children (this means leaving your phone in a different room than you are eating in). Observe their eating habits, conversation patterns, and behaviors. Take a moment to savor each bite and relish the taste and aroma of the food. Experience the dinner fully, actively thinking about what is happening right now at the table. How is the food arranged? Where is your spouse sitting? How are they eating? By consciously immersing ourselves in the present, we become active participants in our own lives, experiencing moments rather than merely observing them.

Trusting Your Instincts

Do you feel that you are currently fulfilling your life’s purpose? When faced with this question, our subconscious immediately provides an answer—either a resounding yes or a hesitant no. We often overlook this instinctive response, attempting to rationalize and find alternative answers. However, learning to trust our initial gut instincts is crucial.

Consider this: If you sense that you are not doing what you should be doing, what is it that you should be doing? Deep down, you already know the answer, even if you have been avoiding it or trying to escape it. Trusting yourself and acknowledging these truths propel you closer to your calling in life. Trusting your instincts is key to aligning yourself with your purpose and finding fulfillment.

Objective decision making and conscious awareness are essential in navigating the complexities of life and business. By adopting an objective perspective, we can make more balanced and effective choices. Furthermore, living consciously and trusting our instincts leads us closer to our purpose. Remember, trust yourself—you already possess the answers you seek.
