Grow Your List With Reddit

Did you know you can use Reddit to reach your target audience and grow your list? If you don’t know what it is, Reddit is an incredibly popular forum-based social media platform where thousands of people share news and content daily. It’s basically a massive collection of online forums, allowing registered users to submit content and discuss almost anything you can imagine.

You’ll see countless topics on message boards, and you can subscribe to as many subreddits as you want. Subreddits are these sub-sites on niche topics. Users can post web links, comment on them, and vote those link submissions up and down.

Reddit has a boatload of traffic, getting a whopping 47 million daily searches. This web traffic powerhouse has more than 52 million daily active users, making it an excellent platform for advertising.

It’s one of the most popular sites in the world. You can think of any topic right now, and you’ll definitely find a community for it. From cooking and crafting to politics and business, Reddit has it all. Some groups have immensely dedicated members who stick with a very specific niche.

Personally, I belong to several groups: Advertising, Amazon FDA, Beaver Builder, Entrepreneurs, and Flexibility to name a few. Now, I’m not really one to post on these sites, but I do check them out regularly, and I know there are millions of active users on Reddit daily.

In just the Entrepreneur group I’m subscribed to, there are over 1.1 million members. That is a pretty big but targeted group that you

can potentially reach. Go to Reddit and try searching your topic of interest. I can almost guarantee you’ll find an audience whatever your topic is.

Additionally, Reddit provides suggestions for other groups that are relevant to your topic, giving you a vast list of groups that may be interested in what you have to offer.

What makes Reddit a powerful platform is that people visit it to be informed, and they tend to trust product and brand recommendations on this site.

So, let me explain how you can leverage Reddit and grow your email list with an underused advertising tool on this site.

Grow Your List With RedditLet’s start by creating an advertising account. First, you should sign up for a basic Reddit account. Make sure to pick a relevant username that represents your business. After that, you can go to Reddit Advertising to open your ad account and set up your first ad.

Setting up your ad is actually a simple process; all you have to do is provide basic information, including the name of your ad, your post type, and what you want to say. The whole process takes only a few minutes, and you’ll see how your ad will look like on a desktop and mobile device.

The next step after creating a campaign is giving it an objective. You can choose Brand Awareness and Reach and pay per thousand impressions. This means you might pay $1.50 or $2 per thousand people that see your ad.
Other options include Traffic, which uses the cost per click model, and Video Views, wherein a video campaign is paid on a cost per view basis.

Personally, my preferred method is Conversions, in which the conversion rate is tracked with a pixel and paid on a cost per click basis. It’s easily trackable, and I’m getting something out of it. It gives me valuable conversion data. So, 99% of the time I will recommend choosing Conversions.

The next part is where you get a chance to choose your audience. This is where your targeting comes into play. Reddit wants you to refine your audience and find categories and communities that you believe target your market.
Reddit audiences are grouped into categories and communities. You can pick your top-level category and remove any unimportant subcategories. You can also include and exclude communities.

I’ve learned that you have to go relatively broad on Reddit in your initial searching. You can’t really just niche it down based on a couple of communities. So, what you do is choose several categories and communities relevant to your market.

From there you can start narrowing it down by country and other options, but don’t narrow it too much. You need those numbers in the millions to get the conversions. It’s a good idea to explore different communities as a member so you know which ones to target with advertising.

The next thing to consider is placement. Basically, you decide where you want to place your ad. You can choose to have it placed on the feed, which means your ad appears on the main page where you see daily posts from all your subscribed communities. You can also choose to put your ad in the conversations, which are the actual posts and post replies. Typically, I just use feed, although you can easily use both to expand your reach.

Finally, you set a budget and decide how much you would like to spend for your ad campaign. The minimum budget is as little as
$5 per day.

Now, it’s time to create our ad. You can make an image ad or a video ad; either is fine. If you want an easier, faster option, an image ad is an excellent choice. Whichever ad type you choose, be sure to create an attention-grabbing ad that hooks your audience.

Your ad should have an enticing call to action that takes people where you want them to go.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to turn off the comment section. The last thing you want to deal with is moderating hundreds of comments and filtering spams.

Remember to grab the Reddit pixel so you can track conversions on your site. You can find the Reddit pixel on the lower left side of the screen. Simply click on it to obtain the code for tagging your website and creating retargeting audiences.

When you’re ready to publish your ad, just click Publish, and that’s it. Creating a Reddit ad is a smooth and quick process. You can test it out on different markets to see what really works for you; then keep on refining your ad to get the highest conversions. You can review your stats once you’re getting traffic, and you can add and remove subreddits or adjust your budget to improve your ad campaign.

Maybe you won’t get the results you want right away, but it’s well worth the $5 daily cost to find out. Reddit could end up being one of the best advertising platforms you’ve ever tried.

Just remember the one basic rule of any ad mechanism: Find your market. That’s the key idea. Identify your target audience and advertise to them. You want to make sure your advertising is targeted and the money you’re spending actually goes toward the people that potentially need or want your product or service.
