Turn 15 Minutes A Week Into 1092 Pieces of Content a Year
In Part One I introduced you into the “Ultimate Traffic Strategy.” This post I’m going to reveal the rest of the story.
If you recall, I ended that article stating I was going to show you how it’s possible to take 15 minutes out of your life and turn it into thousands of minutes in front of your audience through a podcast.
Let’s get started!
There are two ways of doing a podcast—audio or video. Both have their advantages, but we’re talking about leverage, so…which one should you choose? Or do you have to? I did some research as to what successful podcasters are doing and found that it’s not either; it’s both.
Hyatt do both. He has both a video podcast and an audio podcast. When you subscribe, you’ll quickly realize that the audio podcast is identical to the video podcast. It is the exact same audio. All he does is extract the audio from the video and broadcast it as audio. So, let’s model that success simply by recording the podcast as a 15-minute video, then extracting the audio, and use it for an audio podcast.
You may be thinking, “But, Armand, I don’t have the fancy equipment. I don’t have the tools needed to do this.” Don’t worry, you don’t need a lot of gadgets in order to create a video podcast. In fact, you probably already have the main piece of equipment…which is your phone. Almost every phone on the market today can record video. So, you have the equipment to record your video—that takes care of issue number one.
Your next concern may be, “What am I going to talk about?” You’re going to talk about three things that you’re thinking about this week. You’ll talk about each one for five minutes. It doesn’t have to be exactly five minutes each, it might be only three or four minutes, but either way, you’re going to have an introduction to your podcast and then you’re going to talk about three things that you’re currently thinking about.
At first this may sound difficult but, I assure you, throughout the previous seven days, I can guarantee you can find three things that you like, that you think are cool, or three things that absolutely annoy you. The bottom line is, you only need three subjects to talk about and then you just record yourself having a natural conversation talking about these three items.
Here are a couple of examples of how I might start out a podcast:
“Hi, my name is Armand Morin, welcome to the Blah-blah-blah podcast.” Or, “Welcome to the Armand Morin Show,” as an example. “And today, I have three things that I want to share with you. Number one is...” And then you jump right in, you talk about number one. Then you simply move to the 2nd item, “And number two is...” And then you talk about that. And then, number three…” And then you can end with something like, “Thank you so much for listening to this week's podcast. I'll see you next week. My name is Armand Morin, and I'll talk to you soon. Bye- bye, everybody.”
That is basically it. You are simply having a conversation about your opinions. There’s no right or wrong way to do this.
There are a couple inexpensive options that I recommend you purchase, if you don’t already own them. The first thing I would suggest is that you get an inexpensive tripod with a phone adapter to hold your it steady on top of the tripod. Another good thing to purchase would be a tiny mic that usually has a 15- to 20-foot cord that will allow it to go from you into the mic jack on the phone. This will make a world of difference in the quality of your audio. You don’t need anything pricey. At the time of this printing, you should be able to get everything, with exception of the phone (which I’m assuming you already have) for about $60 total. The tripod will cost you about $20; the little phone holder will be about $15; and you’ll spend around $20 for a cord with a lavaliere hard-wired mic to plug into your phone. You should be able to find one for almost any brand of phone. There are even “Bluetooth enabled ones, but they will cost more.
That’s all the podcast equipment you need to get started. Now, you can sit down at your desk, go outside to your backyard and stand in front of some flowers or to your pool and set up your tripod, mount your phone, plug in the microphone and click the record button and start your podcast!

You can even use the phone for some simple editing like cutting off the junk that was recorded at the start and finish of your recording. You can upload it directly from your phone. It’s very simple and easy. There are a lot of other ways you can do a podcast, but the fact is, this is the most simple and inexpensive way.
So, step one is the video podcast, and then we extract the audio because that gives us our audio podcast. This is the most important phase. To really build and leverage traffic you’ll need to do this once a week. To ensure it gets done MAKE SURE you put it on your calendar.
Now, that we’ve created the video podcast magic starts to happen…we start leveraging it. In fact, we’ve already leveraged the video podcast by extracting the audio and ALSO creating an audio podcast! We’ve leveraged our time because we now have 30 minutes of content from a 15-minute video, and we’re just getting started!
