Turn Your Wishes Into Wants

There seems to be a growing issue in the  world  today,  especially in America. Our society is being overrun with wishers instead of doers.

People seem to be content to sit back and say, “I wish I had this,” or “I wish things were different.”

We’re being told by guru after guru that if you want something all you have to do is think about it, keep it centered in your mind, tell the universe about it and at some point, almost as if by magic, you will wake up and find that the stars have aligned and the winds have shifted, and you have suddenly been granted your every wish.

Turn Your Wishes Into Wants

WRONG!!

Face the facts. There is no magic  pill, there is no genie in a bottle and the “universe” turns and twists as it always has whether you’re wishing for something or not.

I remember when I was around 11 years old, I walked into the kitchen and started to make a statement  to my mom.

I got, “Mom. I wish I had…” out of my mouth before she stopped me and gave me a rather odd response.

She looked back at me and said, “Wish in one hand and spit in the other, and see which one fills up first.’”

Now that may seem a bit harsh to say to an 11 year old and maybe she said it out of frustration, but the significance of the meaning behind it made a lasting impression on me.

You see, after she said that, she explained that I could sit back and wish for things that we did not have or I could decide that I wanted it bad enough to do something about it.

Wishers state what they’d like to have and then wait for  things  that  may  or may not ever happen. Whereas, wanters don’t wait around, they take action and find a way to get the things they desire.

Mom was simple but brilliant. She was at times abrupt but effective. Because of what she told me when I was just a young boy, to this day, I don’t wish for things.

I decide what I want, build a plan to get it and then take actions that allow me to accomplish the things I want  in life.

You can do the same. Turn your wishes into wants by building your plan. Go get what you desire and LIVE LIFE!
