Research the best time to release your book to ensure you won’t have a lot of competition.

I don’t know the physical book industry all that well so I asked a friend of mine, Jim Howard, who owns Branded For Success and who is in the publishing world, about the best times to release a book. Here’s is what I learned:

Typically the big publishers release their heavy hitter’s right in September. Then the second major release time is the beginning of the year – January. After the first of the year the next big release time is April/May, the spring season.
So if you want to make a splash, then you want to look to release your book before or after those months so that you avoid competing with the publishing machine in New York.
Limiting your competition by releasing during times that aren’t overpopulated with new books can help you have a much stronger release. Here’s the thing, the less people you have to compete with the better chance you have of getting the interest you need.
