Just Coasting?

“Go down the list and circle the things you really don’t want to do. These are probably things that are holding you up from doing the things you’d rather be doing and most likely can outsource.”

Whenever we’re coming into the final stretch of the year (season or any other predetermined period of time) some people are content to coast into that time, others are gearing up for it in order to hit the ground running.

What is keeping you from starting off the next year with a bang?

If you’ve not done it by now, chances are you are stuck somewhere. First, you need to determine where you are stuck. Then find the best place to get help. Chances are you have access to help already and are just not utilizing the resources you are already paying for.

For instance, there is so much content in your Marketing University membership, marketinguniversity.com are you taking full advantage of it?

How Do You Determine Where You Are Stuck In Your Business?

The best way to find out where you are stuck is to take out a sheet of paper and make a line down the middle. On the top of the left side put “Things I’m Doing.” At the top of the right column put “Things I’m Not Doing.”

Things I’m Doing
– Updating a product
– Writing a Blog post
– Answering support tickets
– etc.
Things I’m Not Doing
– Improving my website
– Planning a vacation
– Painting the office
– Etc.

Set a timer for 10 minutes and then start writing the things you are currently doing. Don’t think too hard, just write down the things that come to mind. For example, you could write: updating a product; writing a blog post; answering support tickets, etc.

Now reset your timer for 10 minutes and start on the other side jotting down the things you aren’t doing but know you should be or WANT to be doing. Examples could be improving your website; planning for a vacation; painting your office; testing your email sequence; finishing writing your book; design your book cover, etc.

Once again, don’t think too hard on this during the 10 minutes—just write down what comes to mind.

Okay, so here’s the easy part. Go down the list and circle the things you really don’t want to do. These are probably things that are holding you up from doing the things you’d rather be doing and most likely can outsource.

Next, go through the list and highlight the things you’d like to get done but haven’t done because you are either unsure how to do it or just don’t know where to start. These are the things that you can also get some assistance with or even get an idea on how to start them by asking the right person.

Remember earlier we talked about finding the right places to get help? Well, Marketing University is a good place to start. You have resources and training in that circle that you may not know you have. Look at the trainings and website critiques.

Whether it’s your site or someone else’s being critiqued, you can come up with a lot of great ideas for your own site as Armand tells someone else what to do with theirs. There are multiple resources that talk about outsourcing in the MU membership for one of the circled tasks you didn’t really want to be doing.

By getting the help you need or outsourcing for that help, you will soon find the time to do the things you really want to be doing on that right side of your column. Even better, you will get more things completed and be more successful than you thought possible.
